Each year anniversary gifts have followed traditions from generation to generation.  Throughout the years, times have changed with new inventions and different needs.  In modern times, the type of gift theme has been altered to fit the current technology.  Each year for the first fifteen years of marriage, the gifts given follow a theme.  Then, a special anniversary theme gift is used once every five years.  On the first anniversary paper is the theme for traditional times.  Paper gifts such as stationary would be appropriate.  In more modern times, a clock would be given.  One of the most celebrated years for having a party is the 25th anniversary.  Giving an engraved gift will be cherished forever.  Below is a chart the shows both modern and traditional anniversary gift themes.  If you are planning an anniversary party, any party theme you choose would be appropriate.  It does not need to follow the chart.  Having silly hats and party games can make your anniversary party tons of fun.
